Week 1: Hayao Miyazaki

Hey world! This week I decided to cover who is possibly my favorite artist of all time: Hayao Miyazaki. Now for those of you who don't know the name or watch anime, you may have heard of the company he works for, Studio Ghibli. If not, let me explain a bit about this brilliant artist.
Hayao Miyazaki
Hayao Miyazaki is the art and the brains of Studio Ghibli who made the movies Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, The Secret World of Arrietty and Princess Mononoke. Well there are more movies than that but for those who are not avid Ghibli fans that would be too boring to take.

Now I have grown up with these movies and have always lived with a Japanese influence (even though I'm not even remotely Japanese) so the artwork is something that I have always appreciated and loved along with the stories with the beautiful art. Hm. Now Miyazaki's debut film would be Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986) which featured some really impressive artwork of a civilization that floats in the sky. Well I suppose that is all on Miyazaki for now. Thanks for reading!

It's the first post!

Hey there! I suppose introductions are in order. My name is Tricia. You can call me Trish or Trixie if you like. I am currently in my second semester at QCC and have recently switched to the Applied Arts major. This blog is specifically for my online Contemporary Art class. I will be posting my thoughts of the readings and also news about the current art movements and styles. Now when I think about Contemporary Art I think of art styles of the current age. Meaning art styles of our current online media and movements. However the textbook that is required of this course gives me insight that contemporary art can go as far back as the 1940's. Now that I think about it, the 50's seemed to be an era with much art in the media so it should be interesting if it is in the course. I believe this course will be rather interesting to go through for the semester. To follow this blog please click the word follow on the image to the left. Thank you.

That's all for now!

Ja ne (See you later)
